HOME BASE PROJECT
For 11 years, Youth Encounter was a mobile operation based out of Joel and Mary’s backyard. People loaned trailers and vehicles to transport activity equipment around, but as the organisation grew, it became more and more difficult to do on a daily basis.
On the 30th of April 2021, Youth Encounter took ownership of its very own property! This was a very exciting milestone for the organisation and a testament to the faithfulness of God. The vision for this property is for it to be a space to house the heart of Youth Encounter. We want this space to be a place where young people and their whānau can experience a greater sense of belonging to this community, to connect with others, learn new things, have fun, and be empowered to live out their God-given potential.
We have developed office and workshop spaces at this Home Base, along with a dirt bike track to be used for our activity-based programmes. Our Operations moved on-site at the end of July 2021, and since then, we have been working on creating a space that caters for a wide range of activities. This space has huge potential – stay tuned to see what becomes of it!

The Youth Encounter Home Base will create a point of reference for our vibrant community and a space where people can gather together and discover a new sense of purpose and being. It is in this space that people will be encouraged to live life wide open – a life of meaningful connection, freedom, and growth. We want this to be a safe place where our young people experience a sense of belonging and can always return to and know they are welcome.
